Lessons in Life
By Regina Brett
The Plain Dealer

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating
anyone.

4. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.

16. Life is too short for long pity parties.
Get busy living, or get busy dying.

17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.

18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.

19. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to     you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an      answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it   for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"

27. Always choose
life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will.
Stay in touch.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or
didn’t do.

35. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.

36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.

38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab   ours
back.

41. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

42. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

45. The best is yet to come.

46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

48. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.

49. Yield.

50. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

When you find yourself

April 1st, 2007 by thoughtsoflen

Find Yourself
(sung by Brad Paisley)
(CARS soundtrack)

When you find yourself
In some far off place
And it causes you to rethink some things
You start to sense that slowly
You’re becoming someone else
And then you find yourself

When you make new friends in a brand new town
And you start to think about settlin’ down
The things that would have been lost on you
Are now clear as a bell
And you find yourself
Yeah that’s when you find yourself

Where you go through life
So sure of where you’re headin’
And you wind up lost and it’s
The best thing that could have happened
‘Cause sometimes when you lose your way it’s really just as well
Because you find yourself
Yeah that’s when you find yourself

When you meet the one
That you’ve been waitin’ for
And she’s/he’s everything that you want and more
You look at her/him and you finally start to live for some one else
And then you find yourself
That’s when you find yourself

Personally, I love this song. =)

French fruits

November 25th, 2005 by thoughtsoflen

Kids as young as 3 yrs old can learn many languages all at the same time, especially the ones
they oftenly hear. That’s true.

My husband and I, we both like to buy game cds and everytime we buy we always include game cds for Nathan. We bought this RAYMAN Activity center cd for him co’z he’s been tired of playing his
first activity cd. We, especially Harold, guide him to the rest of the game until he is comfortable
with it. A week passed and he still love that new cd, then he started reciting this strange words.
I can’t really understand any of it, by the way, he speaks very clearly, strangers would always give that comment everytime he speaks with them. Just then my husband told me, "Mama, that is
French!" What?! French?! How on earth did he managed to learn that. So Nathan and Harold showed me that part of the cd where he learned that. Nathan knows the french word for apple, cherries, orange, strawberries, lemon, grapes, banana and many more. At least now I know everytime he say that strange words, I know its French. LOLZ. I’m not bragging or anything, co’z we all know that
mothers tend to be overly proud of their kids, but what I just told you is true. I just hope he will still be like this when he grows up, he is very excited about new things, he loves learning. And by the way, as young as he is, he likes to be useful anywhere, anytime, I mean you have to give him something to do that he can be useful at.

Gosh, I just hope he can memorize the 10,000 chinese characters, for him to be able to speak and write fluent Mandarin here.

One Step Forward . . .

Don’t be afraid to try something new
Dont stop yourself from being ‘you’
If you can’t do it this way then try another way
And keep saying ‘I can do’
Dare yourself to jump up high
Take your feet off the ground and reach for the sky . . .

Take one step forward don’t look back
It won’t take long ’till you’ll on that track
If you need a little help then I’m here for you
Keep on tryin’ and you’ll get through.

Whatever’s in your wildest dream
Whatever’s in your heart of hearts
Let yourself dream it, let yourself try it
There’s no way of stopping you
Just keep on saying ‘I can do’
And watch your dreams come true.

I can do this, I can do that
Just watch me and see
I can do lots and lots and lots of things
More than I ever believed.

Just keep on trying and you’ll get through.

YOU

September 26th, 2005 by thoughtsoflen

Eversince I heard this music (that was like a thousand years ago? huh ;) ), I fell inlove with it. And for years I’ve been looking for someone that would fit into this music . . . before, when someone comes along, I would pretend that he’s the one . . . but nah, I’m just kidding myself . . . nobody ever fit into it. At last he came into my life, after years of searching . . . hmmm . . . I’m sure you would think that I am referring to my dear husband but nah . . . I’ve got so many songs for him but this one is especially for someone we both love and adore.

Every lyrics of this song goes to my one and only son, Nathaniel Harold.

*************************************************************************
"You are the one that makes me happy when everything else turns to gray,
Yours is the voice that wakes me mornings and sends me out into the day,
You are the crowd that sits quite listening to me to all the mad sense I make,
You are one of the few things worth remembering,
And if its all true, how could anyone mean more to me than YOU."

"Sorry if sometimes I look past you, there’s no one beyond your eyes,
Inside my head the wheels are turning and sometimes I’m not so wise,
You are my heart and my soul, my inspiration,
Just like the old love song goes,
You are one of the few things worth remembering,
And if its all true, how could anyone mean more to me than YOU."

"You are my heart and my soul, my inspiration,
Just like the old love song goes,
You are one of the few things worth remembering,
And if its all true, how could anyone mean more to me than YOU."

My growing little tyke . . .

August 6th, 2005 by thoughtsoflen

This happened last friday morning, Aug 5. I got up early from bed to do my morning routine but was’nt feeling really well . . .  maybe because of lack of sleep from the past nights, my husband and I share the same curse . . . can’t sleep, not until past midnight! Take note of my dark eyebags! ewww!!! well, . . .  before my husband went off for work . . . i tried to lay down again in bed, just then my two-yr-old Nathan came up to me and asked, "Are you ok, Mama?", while feeling my forehead, (as if he could tell whether I have a fever or something). Of course I answered, "I’m fine baby, I’m just sleepy." Guess what he did next . . . he shut the windows, (we have sliding windows) and yes he can already reach it, pulled down the curtains to make the room dimmer, shut the bathroom door and turned on the fan. Then he went up to me, gave me pillows, kissed me and said "Sleep Mama, sleep." "Don’t come out." and then he went out and shut the door. Of course I didn’t really fell asleep, I just let the moment pass by because I knew, it would not take long before he would come up to me again and ask for food or play with him. :) And I was right!

He did exactly the same things I am doing everytime I tucked him to bed. And not just that, the best part is, I can already see the growing emotional intelligence in him. WOW! isn’t that great? and he’s only turning 3!

MY GOD, THAT MOMENT WAS AMAZING!!! And everytime I observe some positive signs of growing from him, I know I did the right thing, every sacrifices . . . its all worth it.  :)

questions . . .

July 13th, 2005 by thoughtsoflen

"Have you ever wondered the true meaning of your existence? Have you ever think, even for one second, if you are a indispensable human being? Or if you are an inspiration or hope or a burden or worse? Did it ever occur to you that maybe everytime you inhale air,  that might be a million money worth of loss to the world? Or let’s make it simpler . . . what is the meaning of your life to you and to the other people you affect the most? "

"There’s nothing wrong with those questions, right? But finding the answers can sometimes be too overwhelming or even painful or scary. Or it might be the way of finding your uncontaminated self again. "

Inside My Heart
by
HI5  - - -  ( one of my son’s favorite educational kiddie shows :)  )

There’s a place in my heart and its there just for you
Inside your heart is where dreams can come true
Put your hand in mine
Take one step a time
There’s a place in my heart . . . for you

There’s a place in our house and its there just for you
Inside our house there’s a room with a view
Just knock on the door i’ll be there for sure
There’s a place in our house . . . for you

Inside my heart, Inside my mind you will find
Strength and love and happiness
You’ll find a way to be your best

Inside my heart there’s a place for you always and forever. . .

Longing of the Heart

April 27th, 2005 by thoughtsoflen

Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone . . . to have a deep soul relationship with one another, to be loved thoroughly and exclusively.

But God is saying to you: "No", not until you are satisfied and fulfilled and content with being inlove wiht me alone . . . I LOVE YOU.

And until you discover that only me is your satisfaction to be found, you will not be capable of the perfect relationship that I have planned for you. You will never be united with one another until you are united with me . . . exclusive of anything or anyone else, exclusive of any other desire or longings.

I want you to stop wishing, stop planning, stop dreaming, and allow me to give you the most thrilling plan, existing plan . . . one you cannot imagine. I want you to have the BEST. Allow me to bring it to you.

Just keep watching me and expect the greater thnigs. Keep learning and listening to what I TELL YOU . . . YOU MUST WAIT . . . DONT BE ANXIOUS . . . DONT WORRY

Dont look around at the things others have gotten or those I have given them. Dont at the things you think you want. Just keep looking up to me, otherwise you will miss what I want to show you. Finally when you’re ready, I’ll surprise you with a LOVE far more wonderful that what you could ever dream or think of. You see . . . when you’re ready and when the lifetime partner I have prepared for, you’ll be able to experience the love that exemplifies your relationship with ME . . . and it will be a real PERFECT LOVE.

So my dear BELOVED ONE, I want you to have this wonderful love. I want you to see the real picture of your commitment with ME, and to enjoy it actually and physically, the everlasting union of the beauty and perfection and love that I offer you with myself.

Know that I LOVE YOU indeed. I am God Almighty and nothing is impossible with ME.

BELIEVE IT AND YOU WILL HAVE IT. GOD BLESS US ALL !!!!

Might help you to get by . . . everyday.
